However, when Harry shows up, it seems neither of them actually know how to address the herd of pachyderms in the room. So, Severus has the brilliant idea to introduce alcohol into the conversation they're failing to have. They make a deal: Honesty for honesty, and no topic off-limits. Truths are revealed, and impulses are followed that lead to an unexpected morning-after. Severus is a little OOC, but I'm blaming that on the alcohol. Rated Explicit (It's my first time, be nice). Twenty-one-year-old Harry Potter is disillusioned with the Auror Corps as he has some residual spell damage and can no longer partake in active field duty. The young wizard is regulated to his desk at the ministry, and thinks that he should be doing more and not getting “special treatment”, as it were.
Severus Snape, now the Deputy Headmaster, has become a bit of a recluse, and is only seen in his potions classes or at mealtimes, and spends the rest of his time brewing. None of the professors can get through to him, as the man doesn’t seem to want to listen.
Minerva McGonagall, now the Headmistress of Hogwarts, decides that enough is enough, and so she hires Harry as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, in the hopes of filling the position, and getting Severus out of his funk.- Language:

September 1, 1746 - Hogwarts Castle is again opened for young witches and wizards to learn how to be proper within the Wizarding World, with many tutors on hand to educate them in history, Transfiguration, charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and potions. Albus Dumbledore soon announces a Christmas ball, and all is well.
December 1, 1749 - Dumbledore bans Christmas balls from Hogwarts castle, because he is tired of wasting Galleons on dancing shoes.
December 12, 1749 - Harry, Ron, and Draco devise a plan to still have Christmas balls, which is where our story begins...
