Summary
Tim slept fitfully the night Mad Dog jumped from the hospital roof.
The first nightmare started out just like the events several hours prior. Mad Dog sat on the ledged and pitched himself over. But instead of looking down at the lifeless body several stories below before turning away, it was with a feeling of relief that Tim sat on the ledge and followed him over.

Summary
The woman in charge spotted Tim and lit him up before he was even within speaking distance. “What the hell is one of your people doing walking into my operation?” she demanded. “She blew the whole thing. I nearly lost one of my people.” She waved a hand in the direction of a woman so young and short that she looked like a child.
“Why the hell didn’t you notify the LAPD of the op?” Tim fired back. “We were responding to a fucking noise complaint and now I’ve got an officer headed to the hospital.”
The woman’s face softened a moment. “The morgue. An armor piercing round tore through her vest. She may be headed to the hospital, but she’ll end up in the morgue.”
Tim’s world went black. All he could hear was ringing in his ears. Then it cleared and he was facing the woman whose sloppiness had just cost Lucy her life. He lunged for her.

Summary
Tim decided to take her to one of the restaurants she was always threatening to make him eat at one day. The sit down, vegetarian focused, takes forever to get your food kind of restaurant that they’d never be able to go to while on shift. He knew she’d love it.
If he couldn’t find anything he counted as edible, he also knew she’d be game to let him stop somewhere afterward and grab something more his style. In acknowledging these truths, Tim resigned himself to the fact that he wanted nothing more than to impress and spoil her on their first date.
He didn’t tell her where they were going, but did tell her what kind of attire was appropriate. He went with a nice button down shirt and slacks. He thought he looked pretty sharp. That is, until he saw her in her dress.

Summary
Tim decided to check out the collar his new boot had made. He pulled the paperwork for the file, but it was nearly devoid of details. Basically, all it said was suspect confessed: carjacking, attempted assault, and rape. It was accompanied by what Tim had to assume was a handwritten confession, but it was barely legible and unlabeled.
When Tim looked at the name on the report, the reason for the lack of effort became obvious; Smitty had handled the interrogation. After a split second of thought, Tim assumed the rape part was a mistake, this was Smitty after all. While a sexual assault would have explained the cringy, obsequious behavior of his boot yesterday, Sargent Grey never would have let Chen out of the station if that had happened. Tim pulled up the recording of the interview and watched Smitty question the suspect.

Summary
Tim and Aaron heard the sound of tires squealing behind them and were jolted as they were rear ended. They both turned to see the F-350 that had rammed them. Their suspect was the driver. Aaron called it in as Tim threw the shop into reverse. The smell of burning rubber permeated the interior as the smaller vehicle battled gamely against the large truck.
Aaron issued a mayday over the radio, but as they barreled toward the edge Tim had no hopes that anyone would reach them in time.

Summary
Tim put his foot against the freezer wall and put all his weight into it. The door popped open. Lucy exited in a rush. A soft whump came from above their heads.
“What was that?” Lucy asked.
Another two whumps from other parts of the building.
Tim looked at Thorson. “Run!” he shouted. He threw himself toward the open freezer door, taking Lucy with him as the ceiling fell in.

Summary
“What did you think of Chris?” Lucy asked as they headed for the morgue to follow up on a lead for the crazy re-animated arm.
“Meh,” Tim said. He shot a glance at Lucy, who was staring at him with one eyebrow raised. “What?” he demanded. Lucy kept looking at him. “Fine. He probably won’t smother you while you sleep.”
“So you did invite us along so that you could vet him! I knew it!” Lucy crowed triumphantly.

Summary
It had taken Lucy less than a day to figure out his housing likes and dislikes. Now they were pulling up to the first of the five prospective houses she’d narrowed it down to. Tim still wasn’t sure how she talked him into letting her come along. And not even a meet there, drive separately kind of come along. She was in his truck. She’d even talked him into picking her up at her apartment, which was out of his way.

Summary
Lucy took a breath. “Do you want to come in?”
“I shouldn’t,” he finally said after several false starts where no words came out.
Lucy nodded. It was the right choice for Tim. If she’d stopped for even a moment to think about what she was asking, she never would have done it. He saw things in black and white. And this was on the side that Tim didn’t often visit. Not without a very good reason. She opened the door and went in, turning to look at him one last time.
Her whole world stopped.
She’d never seen him look at anyone like that. Not Isabel, their relationship having basically ended by the time Lucy came on the scene. Not Rachel, who Lucy knew Tim had cared about. She’d certainly never seen him look at Ashley like that.

Summary
She’d known she was in love with him for months. Even since he’d given her a hug late at night in his house after Jackson died. She’d tried to ignore it, to make it go away. She’d tried to be supportive of his relationship with Ashley and start one of her own with Chris. Poor Chris, he’d definitely drawn the short straw on that one.
The way she saw it, Lucy had two choices. She could either lean into her feelings whenever she was Juicy, effectively giving herself permission to be in love with him… and deal with the consequences when it was over. Or she could keep fighting the good fight and try to fake not having feelings while faking that she did. Which sounded… exhausting.

Alternative start to Season 10.
Sam heard Dean before he saw him. At first it didn't register what Dean was saying, the words lost under the relief that Dean was alive and talking. “Sammy? No, too easy.”
Thank God. Sam thought. He's not dead, I was wrong.
It wasn't until Sam called Dean's name and Dean turned to look at him with tar black eyes that Sam registered what Dean had said.
