Day Eight: Shooting Stars
"Weatherman said there might be a meteor shower yesterday, didn't think it would actually happen." Jake smiles, breathless. "Better late than never, I guess."
"I don't think I've seen one since I was twelve," Bradley admits, just as in awe.
"Really?" He turns to face Bradley briefly, wiggling his eyebrows. "Any wishes you've been waiting to make?"

Summary
The first time Jake tried to get his Sunday morning coffee and found none other than Rooster at the best table by the window, he could have believed it was happenstance.
The second, sure, it could have been a coincidence.
The third time, though, was when he started to consider that it might be enemy action.

Summary
The scrape of a chair startles Bradley, and he looks up just as some guy drags a chair over to their table and takes a seat right next to Haley. She tips her head toward him. “This is my roommate’s brother. My backup.”
“In case you decide to be an asshole about this whole thing,” the guy says. His sprawl is casual, but his eyes are sharp as they rove over Bradley. His hackles are up for sure—one wrong move, and Bradley’s probably getting frog-marched out of here.
“It’s fine, Jake,” Haley says. “I told you, Bradley’s a nice guy.”
The guy—Jake—rolls his eyes. “Well, excuse me if I don’t have a lot of faith in some asshole who fucked you and then didn’t call.”
Bradley leans forward, his eyes narrowing. What the hell, where does this guy get off pretending like he knows anything about this situation?
