Instinct, and muscle memory for a memory he shouldn’t even have, tells him to lean up and press a kiss to the corner of Pete’s mouth - but finally, something kicks in enough to tell him - that’s not right. That’s not something they actually do.
Patrick starts having dreams about kissing Pete, and starts struggling with telling dreams from reality, because the dreams seem to make so much sense. But surely there's a reason they haven't been kissing all these years - right?

Summary
Even after like, barely 24 hours, he misses Patrick. It feels too embarrassing to even admit out loud, let alone to Patrick. Pete knows all he has to do is text or Facetime and Patrick would probably answer, but it feels - goofy. Childish. Clingy.
Patrick should be asleep anyways, because it’s late and he should be resting since he’s still feeling under the weather. So - instead, Pete’s laying across the bed in the wrong direction, his head dangling off one end, flicking through his phone gallery for all the candids he’s been snapping of Patrick when he’s not paying attention.
It’s funny, the number of times he’s done almost the exact same thing all through his life: laying around missing Patrick.
Midway through tour, Pete has to go back to LA for the iHeart awards and leave Patrick back with the touring crew. This should be super fine and normal but - somehow, after barely 24 hours apart, Pete still finds a way to miss him. Patrick facetimes him. It helps.

Summary
Patrick is dealt a blow when it comes to his love life - after ten plus years of marriage he now has to go through a divorce. While ready to deal with finding a new house and living in the guest room until he does so, Pete offers him a lifeline - come stay with him while he looks for a new place. What Patrick doesn't know though is that Pete is also going through his own separation, and the men find themselves for the first time in ten years both completely single. Will old, buried feelings from the past surface and start something new for both of them? Or are they both just going to continue to dance around the feelings they kept inside since they met over twenty years ago?
Multi-chapter fic, plan to update every Thursday until finished :) Rating is for later chapters when things get steamier.

“Yeah, sorry, just-” Pete huffs out a breath and leans in closer. “Planning my approach. There’s tactics involved,” He’s bluffing, mostly, half-joking - but he is, suddenly, very close to Patrick. He’s bracing one hand on the cushions just by Patrick’s head, kneeling next to him on the couch, and when he leans in enough to see the smudged traces of the makeup - he’s not at the right angle to feel the warmth of Patrick’s breath, but he’s basically close enough.
Patrick’s eye closes again, and Pete leans just that last little bit closer as brings up the cloth to brush it gently over Patrick’s eyelid.
Pete helps Patrick get his makeup off after the Halloween show. Then some other stuff happens. (Mostly talking)
