Summary
After obtaining a rare edition of a bestiary, Chief Cultivator Nie Huaisang seemingly vanishes without a trace. Jiang Cheng remembers their last encounter and sets out on a journey to find him.
A knock on the door disrupts Jiang Cheng’s mediation. None but his most trusted disciples know where he takes seclusion, a small house built on an island in the middle of the lotus lake. Once every day, his disciples visit him to leave paperwork and receive instructions. However, they have already visited today. Jiang Cheng narrows his eyes when the knock repeats, louder and more urgent this time. Terror strikes through him: what if something happened to Jin Ling? He rushes to the door and nearly tears it off the hinges to open it.
“What happened-” he doesn’t get further than that when a bedraggled and soaking wet Nie Huaisang sweeps into the little house with a loud groan.
“Jiang Cheng! Is this how Lotus Pier greets the Chief Cultivator?” he whines and drops his outer robes onto the floor.

Summary

Despite their differences in every aspect of life, Nie Huaisang becomes determined to persevere. Can they overcome their differences to take the championship? And what is Jiang Cheng hiding?
The story loosely follows the plot of Cupid's Kitchen, exploring how a scene in each episode would have played out with Sangcheng as the leads.

Many years have passed since the coffin slammed shut at Guanyin Temple. When Jin Guangyao and Nie Mingjue awaken on the cold floor of a cave far from any known place, it is up to them to find a truce so they can figure out who brought them here and what their intentions are and how Lan Xichen fits into all of this.
“Why?” Nie Mingjue eventually asks, though he is not entirely sure what he means. There is a long silence between them. Why. It hangs in the stale and dusty air.
“So I could live,” Jin Guangyao finally responds.
