Summary
Casual, he thinks – as Obi-Wan drags his cock against his rim – before pressing in slowly; casual, he thinks – as he digs his heels into the small of his back, pulling him in – fingers pressing hard enough into the other man’s shoulder-blades – as Obi-Wan starts to fuck into him slowly, unhurriedly – feels as if he might unravel at the seams, when he buries his face in the crook of Obi-Wan’s neck; the way he murmurs Anakin, so softly – as if he’s something to be treasured, the reverence in his gaze, as his hips snap forwards, driving into him – casual, casual, casual – fuck -
- after that, he doesn’t think anymore.
It's summer in Coruscant district - and Anakin would just like to have a nice, simple fling as a break from his monotony as a worker at Theed Cinemas. He's perfectly capable at having casual relationships, no matter what Ahsoka says; then, Obi-Wan sweeps into town, and makes this incredibly difficult.

Summary
To devour, and be devoured, he thinks, as he slips the key into the lock. To devour and be devoured, he muses, as he helps unclasp Laios’ cloak with hands far steadier than his nerves; this close, he catches the vague scent of candle flame, the iron tang of wet ink - the fresh, crisp smell of a new book. To devour, he thinks - as he catches Laios’ gaze, tracking his movements, before the other averts his eyes - as if he as been caught, cheeks a pale shade of pink; and be devoured, he thinks - as Laios sits on the edge of his bed; thinks how easy it would be, simply to step forward, to tilt his chin up and kiss him, what might happen if his feelings were reciprocated -
- arousal lances through him; white-hot, fist-clenching - his stomach lurches.
“No,” he says, instead - keeps a respectful arm’s length apart, as he watches Laios tug off his boots, his eyes tracking the flex of muscle under his tunic sleeves, the careful concentration in his eyes, as he works to unlace the tops. “No, I think I understand what you mean, when you say that.”

Summary
Neuvillette thinks his own feelings about Furina will reach boiling point - will spill over in all their ugly, roiling glory. Familiarity breeds contempt, or so the adage goes - and he is sick to the core; weary of her constant obfuscation, when something is very clearly wrong with the nation they have both sworn to protect. He is weary of everything unsaid between them; that seems to hang across their heads like a cloud on the verge of bursting. He cannot bear to be around her; cannot bear to be without her - is still so miserably in love with her, that he thinks that the extent of his despair over the situation might preemptively cause the flood itself.
The relationship between Archon and Chief Justice, Lady Furina and Iudex Neuvillette has always been upheld as one of the strongest examples of companionship in Fontaine, in the court of public opinion. It is difficult to quite imagine one without the other for much of the population.
But between the half-truths, the secrets, their own experiences and the vast, storied history between them, something's got to give.
Or - Furina and Neuvillette, over the years, and learning how to be human.

Summary
The curtain of their working relationship drops back into place; obscures Furina the individual - and when she steps back, to retreat down the hall to her chambers - she is Furina the Archon once more, Regina of All Waters. Untouchable, dignified, regal and answerable to no-one; not to the kindreds she rules over, not to her people, and certainly not to Neuvillette - no matter how many answers he wishes to pry from her.
Newly appointed Chief Justice Neuvillette accepts an invitation from his Hydro Archon to attend an opera; neither of them quite know what they're letting themselves in for.

Summary
“Not that I’m going to protest against this newfound work ethic of yours,” Professor Schuyler had said. “But - are you quite alright Amelia?”
No, Amelia thought. I still think about being confined. I still think of dark rooms, of my friends being separated, of thinking I might never see them again, of having any sense of control wrested from my hands. She’d swallowed the lump threatening to rise in her throat down, even as her grip around her wand had tightened.
“Yes,” she said instead, because if she repeated it enough times - it would be true; the outside noise would drown out the insidious thoughts in her head. “I’m fine, you don’t need to worry.”
Graduation is around the corner, the student body is abuzz with the new rumour about the "Seven Sisters," - a set of doors in the ballroom that will grant any wish and fulfil any desire, and Amelia Nile has her hands full with the production of the school play for Academy's five-hundredth anniversary. Between all of this - having to manage the strong personalities participating, and juggling her own conflicted feelings about her best friend - what's a girl to do?

Summary
The news that the Survey Corps militia ambassadors will decamp near the village of Liberio is met with conflicting responses; the most relaxed fathers suddenly prohibit their sons or daughters from straying too close to the encampment, while match-making mothers promptly arrange balls. For days in advance, it is all that fills the gossip of every drawing room and salon – and by the time they do arrive, Zeke feels as if he has become so well acquainted with the notion of Commander Erwin Smith and his deputies, that he would be glad to see the back of them already.
Zeke Yeager is a man of many hats; adept cricketer, legal clerk and event organiser, proofreader, and a reformed rake. Yet when the Survey Corps Militia arrives in the village of Liberio, he finds himself encountering an unwelcome face from his past; the brooding Captain Ackerman – who once declared that the next time they met, he would kill him.
And if that doesn’t make things complicated, the local pastor is insistent that an unworldly giant is running around destroying prize vegetables. Can Zeke evade the searing gaze of Captain Ackerman? And will he be able to save the summer fete from the dastardly hands of a titan?

Summary
There are several pieces of information which are publically available about Marius von Hagen; too much information, Luke will often think with an internal grimace, whenever he passes by the magazine section in his local convenience store in the evening - the bright strip lights bouncing off glossy, airbrushed covers, full of allegations and false rumours. To be quite honest, Luke thinks he knows far more about Marius from glancing at those front covers than Marius has ever divulged; wonders how he copes, when so many people in the world seem to think that every inch of him is public property - dissect him at any possible chance they can, if he so much as blinks the wrong way.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Summary
Fine, Zeke had slept with that auditor from two years because he was halfway attractive. And fine, maybe that had resulted in a free interpretation of the accounts of the Liberio branch of M24 Pictures.
Of course, if Zeke had known that it would lead to the current mess he’s in now, maybe he wouldn’t have done it. Because now, he has to deal with a new terror; a monster in a green peacoat and a cravat called Levi Ackerman. There must be better things he can do with his time than sit in the stockroom with a cup of tea and work his way through each file. He doesn’t even hold his cup properly; he really isn't human.
Zeke Yeager doesn't mind a quiet life under the thumb of an unscrupulous employer. After all, he's their best employee, not their most virtuous. But this year, he has a newly acquired younger brother - and the shadow of their father looms large over them both.
Levi Ackerman wants to fulfil a debt he owes to an uncle who he might charitably call peripatetic at best; help sort out his finances, and disappear back to Paradis, where he isn't dogged by memories he's put far behind him.
Neither of them get what they want.

- except, of course, it’s easy for you to forget that Ikki, with all that goodwill, and affection for his friends - also has the remarkable propensity for being an absolute shit-stirrer sometimes, despite his thoughtfulness. Experts at emotional obfuscation, the both of them; except at least with Kent, you know it’s unintentional.
When Kent, Reader and Ikki celebrate Christmas together - the present exchange between Kent and his partner leaves Ikki cold. How well do they know each other, anyway?

Summary
They don’t talk about how Levi begrudgingly manages to win a fucking baseball out of everything, in the crane machines, just to stave off Zeke leaking even more money from his own wallet, how they both pool their tickets at the end of the evening to win a stuffed cat plush toy. They don’t talk about how he drags Zeke back onto the tram, when the other begins to flag - face flushed, eyes bright, how he buries his face into the crook of Levi’s neck with a soft sigh, eyes half-lidded as he threatens to fall asleep completely; how Levi lets him. And when he does - Levi looks at their dark, ghostlike reflections in the glass opposite, can’t help but look back down at Zeke, and wonder - why can’t you be this agreeable all the time?
Don’t we get along alright, he thinks, when we’re not trying to make our respective lives hell?
Zeke and Levi have managed to survive living together for nearly a year without the world imploding around them, but it's a very close-run thing; even more so, when they actually have to spend one month - horror of horrors without resorting to argument. Results are (currently) inconclusive.

Summary
"We wanted to ask if you’d be interested in picking up this case, actually.”
“What,” he says, in disbelief. “You mean - there’s something which you’re actually giving to me?” And there’s a pause - over the line, he can suddenly hear a short burst of static; the sound of Mike, in the background, quietly murmuring into it. And Erwin’s voice, when he next replies, is studiedly neutral.
“Well,” he says, “I’m afraid that according to to departmental rules, the PPD deal in hard facts - not allegations of the supernatural."
Levi Ackerman, PI, investigates a strange and unusual occurrence at a new Marleyan restaurant near his old turf, drinks excessive amounts of tea, goes devil-hunting, and thinks far too much about Zeke Yeager
for his own good.Takes place a year after "i get along without you very well (except sometimes)."

Summary
Levi’s gaze settles on him blankly, when they pass each other, separated by the net. And it’s strange, Zeke thinks, feeling an intense discomfort, as if someone has reached inside, is rearranging his organs with abandon, that he’s spent more than a year following someone who is barely aware of his existence, who probably doesn’t even care; and that, he thinks, is unacceptable. It’s unfair that Levi Ackerman has caused such turmoil in his life, unknowingly - and by the end of this match, he's determined to make as strong an impression as the other has on him for so long, will make Levi acknowledge him.
Zeke is the (self-proclaimed) consummately witty, charismatic and endlessly charming new student at Paradis High School. He's also the volleyball team monkey mascot, desperately trying to earn his distant father's approval, and suffers from a chronic, obsessive compulsion to best his rival Levi Ackerman after suffering a heavy loss against him when they were younger. Except, there's one snag. Levi doesn't remember him.
Levi just doesn't know why the fucking bizarre, and frankly terrifying mascot seems to have it out for him, but he's sure as hell going to find out.

Summary
The Dissembling Lapidary turns to face him, gold tinged, sulphuric devil’s eyes luminous in the gloom. He leans forwards; tosses a wizened apple in his hand casually. Even that is aggravating. And Levi is regretting even approaching him now; when he feels as if he’s about to be caught on the backfoot by him, if he isn’t careful.
“The Flit, hm?” he muses, throws the apple upwards, once more. “You’re a long way from home, aren’t you?”
“And you’re looking to get to Avid Horizon, from the Iron Republic,” Levi returns, steadily - hand already curling around the handle of his knife. “You certainly seem to want to get a long way away from yours.” And - that prompts a small, quiet puff of laughter, as the Lapidary shrugs - angles a mild, sly smile towards him, the kind that really does make Levi want to skewer him, fuel and additional stealth, bedamned.
“I can’t even bother trying to explain it to you,” he says, “You’ll never understand.”
The Unterzee is dark and full of terrors; but Zee-Captain Levi, down on his luck and out of fuel, can't help but feel as if he and his crewmate Hange have just welcomed one of the most dangerous ones on deck.

Summary
Levi realises then, that the reason why this whole situation feels so immediate is because they’ve almost dropped the entire pretence, have been unable to lapse into their roles, have addressed each other directly. He’d - done all of that, in the name of editorial duty, had already thrown his professionalism out of the window.
And - he realises suddenly - he almost doesn’t regret it; when Zeke looks like this: eyes dark, flush spreading across his face, exhilarated. Underneath his thumb, he can feel the quick, heightened beat of his pulse - it only accelerates, when he runs his thumb against it idly. It’s as if he’s managed to remove another veil. He looks as if he might let Levi do anything to him, and he really would acquiesce.
That’s - terrifying, to say the least.
Zeke is an author of dubious erotica, Levi is his long-suffering editor. They barely manage to rub along at the best of times; but still constantly throw themselves (and are thrown into) each other's trajectories. And if Zeke's work should - resemble them, that's purely coincidental, right? ...right?
It's not as if Levi's ever noticed, anyway.

Summary
Up close, it’s not hard to see the way Zeke’s clear eyes have darkened, the way his façade almost falters as soon as he leans closer. It’s hard not to find it attractive, even as his stomach curls in on itself with something close to repulsed arousal. There’s something about him that’s just asking for all his surety to be dismantled, and Levi is nothing, if not well-versed in taking others down a peg or two.
Levi Ackerman is an individual who is naturally suspicious of the world around him - so when the prestigious, established Marley University offers him a joint project relating to the Titanisation virus, he is loath to accept it. After all, Marley has a habit of cannibalizing smaller universities in the name of research. Working with Marley will undoubtedly mean working with Zeke Yeager, Marley's golden child, professional grant stealer and on-off bed partner, who has made it his life's mission to be a thorn in his side. It should be fine, because Zeke doesn't seem enthused about working with him either...except somehow, it's not.

Summary
And every time they interact, it's always like this; Zeke will say something that is superficially inoffensive, Levi will find a way to take exception to it, and the morning briefing will somehow devolve into an argument about everything, and yet nothing of importance at all, whenever they're in the same room. And Zeke knows that he probably shouldn't be indulging in this at all, except for the fact that since they've met, Levi has always looked at him with begrudging scepticism; as if he's certain that Zeke is one step away from doing something heinous, like pissing in his morning tea. And quite honestly, if that's the low standard he's being held to, Zeke cannot be blamed for fulfilling all his worst expectations. After all, he has a duty to perform.
Newly hired Shiganshina House employee Zeke just really wants to work as a curator; Levi just wants to undertake preventative conservation undisturbed by budget cuts and the visitor experience assistant intent on making his life a misery. Armin just wants to have a peaceful year working for the Public Access Through Heritage Sectors program. None of these seem particularly achievable.

Summary
“Zeke,” Levi says with a heavy sigh. “I’ve been hailed on, I’m fairly sure I’ll catch a cold before the day is over, I’ve spent three hours wading through the mess which Hange calls their apartment, and I’ve literally spent at least an hour and a half chasing your brother around town. I don’t care if you’re actually in the apartment or not; I’m heading back. All I wanted was to spend time with you today, and I can’t - you’re not even letting me have that, in the name of whatever sort of surprise you seem to be trying to spring on me.” There’s a long pause - but Zeke’s still there, because Levi can hear his quiet breathing down the line; clearly thinking hard about how to frame his answer.
“...alright,” Zeke says, voice a little muted. “You’d better come home, then. But - please don’t be mad at me? It’s not even that bad - I swear.”
Zeke tries to cook, Levi tries to deliver Christmas cards; naturally, both endeavours do not go swimmingly at all.

Summary
Yelena hums, bows her head towards Quanxi as she lights her cigarette. The glow of the cigarettes, she notices, are almost the same sulphuric shade as her supervisor's eyes at the Public Safety Bureau. She leans backwards, tilts her head upwards, lets a steady stream of smoke escape from her lungs.
"Tell me, Quanxi," she says mildly. She stretches out against the wall. "Do you remember the Eldians?" Because Yelena does; thinks of them nearly every day - of the Survey Corps, of the Curse of Ymir, of Liberio - of a god that she is still trying to find. Somehow, no-one else does.
A woman, a deal with a devil, and the search for her dead god's head.
