At the same moment, Jayce Giopara, a arrogant jerk, finds himself face to face with a painfully human Viktor. Tensions run high across both worlds, but curiosity runs hotter. Neither Viktor can resist the chance to dissect the Jayce before them, and neither Jayce is quite ready for what it means to be seen so differently.

Summary
Jayce’s eyes snap to him, and Viktor almost gasps. There’s something wrong. Well, obviously, your lab partner’s just been regurgitated from a roiling ball of energy with a beard and a massive fuck-off hammer, thank you for the observation, Viktor - but there’s something wrong with Jayce, with his eyes. He looks crazed. He looks horrified, and all the more horrified the longer he stares.
“No,” Jayce breathes. He staggers forward, catching himself with his hammer. “No. No, no, no, it can’t be you. He didn’t mean- no.”
Viktor holds out a hand like he’s soothing a feral cat. “Are you alright? I can help you. Just- just let me stand.”
He picks up his cane, leveraging himself from the ground. Jayce keeps trembling.
“Not you, that’s not- that’s not what he said, not you, I can’t kill you.”

Jayce is sent back to a time before it all fell apart.

Summary
Jayce wanted to pull Viktor behind him and face the intruder down himself, but Viktor was in full scientist mode and would not be deterred even if Jayce tried. A hesitant hand reached forward, Jayce watching as Viktor brushed over the large golden gear screwed tight to the inside of the man’s knee. Breathlessly, he said, “We match.”
Jayce watched his own eyes soften, expression momentarily twitching in pain as he leaned on his hammer and lowered himself into a crouch. With his free hand, he gently gripped Viktor’s chin with his thumb and forefinger. “I never thought I’d get to see you like this again, Viktor.”
