Caitlyn allowed herself to indulge in the sight of her. Taking in every detail, no matter how small. The messy, uneven growth of the short side of her hair. The slowly healing cut slicing its way through the tattoo on her cheek. Dark circles under wide eyes, affectionate and present, yet with a lingering sadness that made Caitlyn’s heart ache for her.
“How are you doing?” Caitlyn asked quietly.
The answer to her question was a slow, measured exhale. Silence, presumably while Vi debated how truthful of an answer to give. Her brows knit together in a frown while her eyes never left Caitlyn’s.
“You can be honest with me,” Caitlyn added, reaching across the narrow space between them to rest her hand on Vi’s forearm, stroking her thumb lightly across her skin. “If you’d like to.”***
When the smoke clears, Caitlyn and Vi do their best to navigate the way their lives have changed in the aftermath. The good and the bad. The weight of old wounds and the fresh sting of new ones. But Caitlyn makes a discovery that gives them an unexpected hope. And they find that, together, this new life might just be something they can both get used to.

Vi felt like she’d lost everything, but Jinx was… Jinx was still hanging on by threads. If she lived… if she lived…
Vi could hardly bring herself to finish the thought most days. It was too painful to hope.
But if she lived, Vi needed to be there. She couldn’t be in pieces herself.Some days, it felt like Vi was just delaying, holding off until the word came that her sister was finally dead. That it was over. That Vi had lost every last person in her life that she’d ever cared for.
Then, she’d buy the bottle on the bottom rack that had been calling to her ever since the battle ended.

In the aftermath of the civil war, Piltover is in shambles and so is Vi. As the city heals and life goes on, Vi is forced to go on, too. She could stop if she wanted, but then, Vi has never really known how to do anything, except survive.

If pressed, Vi would probably say she couldn't really see the point of yet another monument. Graves, at least, were private enough, but a statue of Jinx in the middle of Zaun was hardly the place where she could mourn for her sister in solitude. If Pilties wanted to assuage their guilt or if Zaunites wanted to send a message, she honestly couldn’t care less. If she had her way, she’d have nothing to do with it.
At that point in life, Vi should already be aware she hardly, if ever, had things go her way.
