“Ned, I don’t think I should be doing this,” Peter’s hissing to his friend.
“Of course you should be doing this! It’s a Spider-Man look alike contest! There’s no way you’re not going to win,” Ned says matter-of-factly.

Peter wore more than just one mask. He had many, hiding his true self from the world and from his loved ones. He hid his feelings, hid what happened to him as a kid; he hid the betrayal of someone he thought was his best friend, and the hurt he underwent for almost a month.
He thought his masks were strong. He never thought that maybe he had some people who cared enough about him to see through them, as one by one, they begin to see the secrets that have been haunting him for almost seven years.

Taking one last moment to focus on Skip, Peter lowered his voice. “You need to leave. You’re violating the restraining order, and I won’t hesitate to call the cops if this happens again.”

Peter knows Tony doesn’t forget on purpose, and he knows that Tony means well with his concern. But, the man has to deal with the fact Peter isn’t a hero, and is in fact, a vigilante. If all he gets is a broken nose after a long night of patrol, Peter considers himself lucky.
A lot of vigilante things were lost on Tony, such as bad PR. Sure, the Avengers get some bad PR, but never J. Jonah. Jameson style, but then again, Spider-Man always had the best pictures, because Peter Parker gave them in for a bit of extra money.
There was some things you learn when you’re in Peter’s line of business, and that is, how to calm down a rape victim, how to help a lost child who doesn’t want help, who to punch harder than the rest, who are first time thieves, and that sometimes things like “don’t pull the knife out” is a rule best ignored, (unless it was somewhere bad bad).
You know Tony’s too far gone from the vigilante line of work, when it’s Pepper Potts, who tells Tony that a broken nose is the least of Peter’s worries, even though she too freaks out about it.Or;
5 times The Avengers (excluding Clint) forgot Peter Parker is a vigilante, and 1 time everyone remembered.

She had heard his screams and his begging and recognised them from the alleys she had left men beaten to pulps in as she helped women limp outside. Clint saw the look on her face, the ashen colour and the pure indescribably terrible sorrow and rage in her eyes and understood.
