Summary
To the outside world he was perfect, handsome, charming, and a Doctor. But he had a dark side.

This is the first part of a series.
In a future chapter, there will be a flashback of sorts explaining after the affair, Aaron and Robert getting back together, married and why they split up again, and how Alex came on the scene. Apologies for confusing some of you. ❤

“Let me take care of you,” Aaron pleaded, because it was the only thing he knew how to do right - use his hands that had seen so much violence to take care of Robert, put his broken pieces back together. He sometimes thought it was maybe the only thing he’d done right in his entire life, the way he could soothe Robert Sugden’s broken heart, the thing he’d been put on earth to do.
“Okay,” Robert relented.

“Are you alright?” Robert asks lowly, studying Aaron closely. Aaron shrugs and looks away across the room, lips pursed in a way that tells Robert he definitely is not.
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?” He answers; Robert raises an eyebrow and adjusts his grip on Jacob’s bottle.
“Well somethin’ or someone definitely spooked you earlier. Thought you might want to talk about it?”
Aaron’s mouth twists into a sneer and he rubs his fist across his nose, sniffing as he shakes his head.
“Well I don’t yeah? So just drop it.”

Summary
There’s more people Robert recognises, now. Some of them come up to him and say hello – Bob, David, Tracy. Others just stare and retire to their tables to whisper unsubtly. Sam and Belle Dingle practically recoil when they see him, and hurry over for what Robert can only imagine is an Emergency Dingle Summit with Chas. By the time the pub’s half full, everyone in it seems to be whispering or texting, some doing both at once.
Robert’s starting to feel like this was a bad idea.
Robert's back from prison, only to find that Aaron's married to his long-lost brother - and that he's mysteriously and chronically ill.It's possible those two things are related.
