“Do you want me here?”
If it’s winter outside, then why is Mike sweating? Why does he feel the need to grab the stairs railing to stop his hand from shaking?
Will watched him, waiting for an answer— a very specific one. Mike swallowed. Maybe, besides coffee, he needed some water. He looked down at his feet, his cheeks slowly becoming more and more flushed.
“Yes.”
“Say it.”
Mike couldn’t help but look back up at Will. A strange feeling crawled into his skin as he noticed how Will was staring at him. His heart started beating out of his chest. There was a heavy feeling in the air, something that Mike couldn’t quite grasp. He was hot. He could feel his entire body heating up. What the hell was happening?
“I want you here.”

The party it's supposed to spend the winter holidays together. Will is the only one that makes it. Mike is totally fine with it.

Summary
After a long silence, Will spoke. “What are you reading?”
Mike hesitated, then tilted the book cover toward him. Hoping he wouldn’t ask too many questions, or ask him to read it too. With the big red dragon on the cover, he felt safe.
Will blinked, eyes widening slightly. “Oh.”
“What?”
“I… didn’t think it was your kind of book,” he admitted softly, voice low, shy.
“Fantasy books?” Mike asked, playing dumb.
Will hesitated, chewing the inside of his cheek, fingers twisting nervously in his lap. “Mike… do you know what you’re reading?”
Mike shook his head, pretending ignorance, though his fingers gripping the pillow gave him away.
“It’s… gay smut. From beginning to end,” Will said quietly, avoiding Mike’s eyes.
Mike’s ears went red. “You’ve read it?”
“Yeah,” Will admitted, shrugging, glancing down.
“Why?” Mike asked, clutching the pillow tighter.
Will shrugged again, probably not expecting the question. “It’s… good.”
_____Mike and Will were childhood best friends who drifted apart. Years later, they meet again in a mental health center and reconnect in unexpected ways.
