"You can call me Beast," he tells her, his voice hard again, a cold challenge in his eyes as he meets hers. He finds a bitter satisfaction in the raw poetic symmetry of their names, both of them called exactly what they are, for Belle truly is a beauty, and he’s nothing more than an ugly creature now.
Belle frowns and opens her mouth as if she wants to protest, but shuts it again and smooths her face into a thoughtful expression instead. "Alright...Beast."

From the first moment Stede walks into Ed's car shop wearing a fedora and making rhinoceros noises to demonstrate the alarming sound his beat-up old car had been making, Ed is pretty sure the guy’s a lunatic.
In a refreshing, charming, I-never-want-to-stop-staring-at-him kind of way.
The more time Ed spends talking to Stede in his shop, the more sure of this he becomes, but also the more he just fucking loves it anyway. So when Stede asks Ed out to dinner, Ed is thrilled—but also scared, because for all of Stede's eccentricities, he's also a smart, refined, wholesome school teacher, and Ed is a scruffy ex-biker mechanic who feels like he’s never quite got his shit together. He just hopes he can make it through the date without blowing everything up.
