Summary
Khalid loses count of how many times he wakes up. Every time he swims to the surface, conscious again, he tries to remember where he is. The room is small, and make-do. There are wires attached to him, machines beeping, and a couple of people making notes and talking quietly together. He remembers Major Kabir, his heart thumping wildly as he looks for him. He is asked questions but he is focused on looking for his team. Sometimes, Khalid sees himself, looking down at him, sneering. But he cannot make sense of any of it before he sinks below the surface again and sleeps.
(Khalid is alive. He survives, and finds Major Kabir in the church).
