Summary
“It’s alright,” said Rav, although they had become stoic and unreadable. “I sometimes forget, too. The Drifter calls me ‘kid,’ but it doesn’t feel right. We stopped being kids the moment we Void-jumped. Now, I’m just a soldier.”
“I am a Warframe, Operator,” said Gyre, with a sudden burst of passion. “It’s in my blood. War. It is all I have truly known. I am a weapon at your disposal. But you, Rav—you are nobody’s weapon, nobody’s tool. You are a child. A wonderful, brilliant, compassionate child. I will not allow you to remain a soldier for the rest of your life. I will rage and fight until I am broken to ensure a future where you may know peace.”
//
Rav's daunting arsenal comes alive, one by one, to protect their beloved Operator. The protection Rav needs, though, is rather different than what the Warframes are designed to do, much less have signed up for.

Summary
The Chorus stings your brain almost viscerally, so much that you instinctively press the heel of your hand to your temple again. The radiant man lunges forth and takes your hands in both of his. “Franz? What’s wrong?”
“Wh—” Your voice withers, hoarse and fragile. “Where am I? Who are you all?”
It’s a ridiculous question, because you do know these people. You have seen them in the flickering embers of your mind, but the familiarity is muted, far out of your reach.
His face falls, and you know that, whoever you are, you don’t like that. “You…you don’t remember?” he asks. “It’s me, Aladdin. And that’s Scarlet, and Melusine.”

The Pied Piper of the Ravenswatch falls in combat, but Baba Yaga refuses to let the Herald of Nightmares claim him as its trophy.

Summary
For the first time, he found himself utterly tongue-tied. It wasn't because he didn't know what to say; he knew very well what he wanted to say. You don't have to go alone.
Take me with you.
Stay here.
He had too much to say. That was the problem. Franz would never say 'no' to Aladdin. But it was wrong to take advantage of his friend's selflessness. The Pied Piper was destined for greatness; he would take his song to the stars and the heavens. And there was no place in that fairytale for a street rat like himself.

The story of the Prince of Thieves and the Pied Piper, back when they were merely a thief, and merely a piper.

Summary
"Is your name actually Drifter?" Amir asks one day, because he isn't sure what else he should talk about with them. They just showed up in the arcade today, calm and unreadable and quiet. He cannot tell at all if the Drifter is annoyed at him, but he has to break the silence soon or he'll lose his mind. "That's kinda crazy–I mean, it's not like, in a bad way, but it's like if John Bonde was only Double-Oh-Six. Like, imagine we get dinner and the waiter asks who made the reservation and you have to say, 'Drifter. The Drifter.' Actually, that's kinda badass…"
The Drifter gently interrupts, "Is that an invitation I'm hearing?"
//
Drifter seems to like everyone, but Amir wants them to actually like him. How to do that, though, he has no idea. They seem so unapproachable, too impressive and godlike and important to care about someone like him.

Summary
“Where shall we go, once the war is over?”
“We?” Faland repeated with amusement. “Did I hear you right?”
“I’ve heard such lovely things about Switzerland,” Pim said dreamily. She seemed not to hear him. She gazed up at the grand mirror, but Faland could not fathom what she wished for now, after the grisly deed had been done. “They’ve stayed neutral in the war, yes? So the countryside hasn’t been blown to bits of dirt and rubble by shellfire. Not yet, at least. Oh, but we won’t have much to do there, Monsieur Faland, will we? No, perhaps somewhere a bit more miserable. Russia? They sure have a lot on their hands lately, with the Bolsheviks and all. We can help them.”
“You keep saying ‘we.’”
“Yes, we,” declared Pim, sitting up and brushing back her hair. “Where you go, I shall follow.”
//
Faland means to drag everyone down into oblivion with him, but Pim has already been there and back.

Summary
There is nothing Juliet would not do, no horror she would not face, so long as she has her Romeo at her side. But in the aftermath of Reverie's freedom from the Nightmares that had plagued it for so long, she begins to dream of brighter days where her husband's memories are returned to him; and that is an altogether different task than dancing across the battlefield. With the wizard Merlin's reluctant assistance, she rises to the occasion.

“I can't believe you did that.”
“Kissed you?” Carlos asks. He feels Cecil shudder under his hands.
“Yes,” he hisses. “Right there, where anyone could – oh, beautiful, perfect Carlos, I never thought you were kinky too!”
Or, Cecil's erogenous zones are in nonstandard places.
