Summary
Rumi’s mind wanders, desperate for a change of subject. Her gaze lands on the two women who’ve been repeatedly plaguing her mind ever since she saw them step out of the limousine. Mira grins and sips on her drink, listening intently to whatever Zoey’s saying, the shorter girl gesticulating her hands wildly in the air. An ache settles in Rumi’s sternum, and that thought, that possibility—the possibility that this show can actually work—rattles through her skull.
“Hey, Celine?” she starts, not looking away from the view ahead of her. “I know it’s unconventional, but can I give out two First Impression Roses?”
Celine considers her words and follows her gaze. She presses her lips into a thin line, then she shrugs in acceptance. “Sure. After all, you’re the Bachelorette.”

Summary
Zoey settles back down, head pillowed on Rumi’s soft chest once more. Her eyes close, and for a moment, the world narrows to the steady rhythm beneath her ear. “Your heart’s pounding.”
“I’m… Yeah.” Rumi admits softly, her fingers rise to weave through Zoey’s hair. “I’m not like you or Mira, is all.”
Zoey nuzzles closer, her breath warm against Rumi’s neck with a, “Not like us? What do you mean?”
“You know. I’m new to all of… this.” Her words come out quieter. “I’m slower, I guess. If that is still okay with you both?”
Zoey lifts her head then, meeting Rumi’s eyes— eyes that dart away, then back again on her, wide and uncertain. There’s so much softness in Zoey’s expression it almost aches to look at.
“Of course it’s okay, Ru. C’mon, you—” She wraps her arms around her, kissing her cheek. “You know that. Don’t be silly. I love you so much. Mira too. We love you.”—
OR, it’s movie night on a rainy evening, and Rumi still doesn’t quite know how to let herself love— not when she’s part human, part something else entirely. But Zoey’s warmth and the quiet safety of their shared space start to teach her what it means to be touched, seen, and wanted.

“Mira helps herself to Zoey’s bed, and arranges Rumi so she’s sitting on the familiar sheets too. The faint scent of clean laundry and citrus from Zoey’s shampoo tints the air, and Rumi wonders if she should be more embarrassed about taking in a deep breath of it as she settles cross-legged at the end of the bed. She doesn’t think much longer on it, though, tuning instead to the click of an expensive wood box being set on the bedside table, then Mira shifting around behind her. The bed dips, and Rumi rocks back a little, right into Mira’s hands. Warm and firm, they settle on her shoulders and straighten her posture. Obligingly, Rumi rolls her shoulders back and makes an effort to sit tall and pretty.
‘Good. Now, stay still and let me braid your hair. I want it out of the way when I collar you for the first time.’”

Mira and Rumi order something fun, and Zoey’s all too happy to join in.

Summary
Mira tugs gently at the hair beneath her fingers. "Uh uh, princess, you have to get up. We're not sleeping on the couch tonight."
"Why not?" Rumi whines, flipping over again so she can tuck her face against Zoey's tummy this time. "S'comfy."
Zoey looks at Mira helplessly, cheeks flushing at the apples because she still flusters under Rumi's attention despite reaching for it eagerly with both hands. Her hand runs down Rumi's shoulder and her brows flex together like she might agree just because Rumi wants it.
"No," Mira says both to her and Rumi, her lips twitching into a fond little smile. "We have a king sized bed for a reason."
But Rumi is insistent as she burrows deeper into Zoey's middle. It's a new trait to her lately—the petulance and borderline bratty behavior, the no's with huge shit eating grins, the definite 'rage baiting' like Zoey likes to call it—and Mira will never admit it out loud but she is in love with the new shade in the same way she is with the whirling patterns.
Or, Rumi is lowkey highkey a brat and they love her anyway

“What—“
A plume of red mist engulfs Rumi before she can finish her sentence. Space warps with a quiet squelch of magic and power, and Rumi barely has time to scream as she is transported from the dressing room to the living room of Celine’s hanok.
There’s a loud startled yelp as Rumi lands on the bare floor, limbs askew and tangled with two other warm bodies. Mira and Zoey’s gazes meet Rumi’s, and for a couple of long seconds, they’re all staring at each other with blatant bewilderment.“What the—“
“Rumi?!”
“Mira??!”
“Zoey!!” They all pause as Zoey shrugs, “What? I wanted to be included.”

Summary
Rumi had learned a long time ago that her body was… more resilient than the average human. She wasn't invincible. Her body still bent and broke and popped and bled in an irritatingly human way sometimes. However she tended to heal at a supernatural rate. A broken arm healed in a matter of minutes. A gash closed over in a handful of seconds. The honmoon helped to speed up the healing of its hunters, but not to this level. Not to this extreme.
Still, the first time Rumi gets hit by a bus she is immensely grateful that 1) it is her and not one of her girls that was hit, 2) her demon healing has already started to repair her snapped spine as she careens through the air and 3) that Zoey and Mira are still in the alley way and won't have to watch this happen.

Rumi only wished for peace: to pamper her girlfriends and show them how worthy they were of love. But the demons interrupted once again, casting a spell that turned her into a child. It was meant to expose her fear of being powerless, of losing her strength and training.
What the spell did? Turned her into a child.
Stripped of those defenses, Rumi’s vulnerability shone through. And in that space, Mira, Zoey, and Celine reached her. Not with force, but with gentleness. Piece by piece, they chipped them away, showing her again what it meant to be loved without condition.
