    Summary

He doesn't know what freedom is. Chained first to those who caged him, and then to those claiming to care, who said he'd be better for it, he believes them, and in their lies.

He thinks that having freedom--this mere concept whispered on the tongues of its dealers--is but a pipe dream saved for those who have not sinned. And his whole being believes in his heart too-big, that he's a dirty, rotten, good-for-nothing sinner.

    At first.

His beliefs in the toxic intoxication of the world around him, that he's no better than the last of them, shatters, crumbles into dust when freedom--true, everlasting freedom--tastes itself upon his lungs and they fill with air he didn't know he needed.

Now, to find the key to his shackles.

Hello, Readers! Just came to say that this specific fic won't be continuing. That is, this version of Misstep won't be continuing. I have more exciting, and more coherent, ideas in store for this fic and Keigo, so I hope you'll all jump on over to "Misstep: Failure Rewritten" to find out how this story is truly gonna unfold. I leave this "draft" here for memories and a mark of progress.
