Frank’s hand, cupping the side of her face. Frank’s eyes, meeting her across the truck’s cabin. Frank’s mouth, forming soft words that she barely hears. And then he’s flipping the center console up and unbuckling her seat belt, dragging her across the seat towards him as he wraps her up in his arms.
He smells like pine trees.
“Breathe,” Frank is telling her, the word a soft caress on the shell of her ear. His hand rubs along her spine soothingly. “Just breathe, Karen.”
(Or, Karen's dad dies and she has to deal with the fallout. Thankfully, she's not doing it alone.)

Frank Castle's decided he needed a scenery change. The rundown, hidden apartment just won't do it for him anymore. So, he moves to Manhattan, away from Queens and his old construction job. The apartment complex he's chosen has a warmth to it, one that reverberates the community and unity of everyone living here. Of course, he sticks out like a sore thumb. Enter Karen Page, The Bulletin's headstrong reporter and woman with a tragic past. She notices Castle immediately - can't really avoid a next door neighbor. They don't kick it off. That is until danger comes knocking, and he's got to protect Karen from death. Together they run, they fight, and they find solace in each other - even on the most bloody of nights.
OR: Frank Castle and Karen Page are next door neighbors, who keep going through the curse of getting caught up in shit, but find love and peace in each other's company.

Summary
THIS FIC IS NOW COMPLETED 4/14/25, just in time for the DDBA Kastle reunion tomorrow!
Micro sends Frank to Josie’s Bar just a few minutes too late– Karen has been shot by Bullseye. Frank and Foggy take Karen to the hospital and we get some Kastle hospital scenes, except Karen is the one injured. A team of Daredevil/Punisher friends assemble to make sure she stays safe. Also, will her dad show up to check on her? Karen gets a chance to talk about her past trauma, plus lots of soft Frank not leaving her side until she’s recovered.
CHAPTER 10 is finally posted!! Things are getting dramatic. Karen is off to confront Bullseye again, this time in a protective-fabric pencil skirt and blouse (made by Melvin Potter.) There are hostages, shoot outs, explosions!
CH 11 is also up! A showdown battle in a construction site! Frank and Bullseye face off. Can Karen outsmart him in time?
CH 12-- A little gift from me to you before DDBA drops tonight! This story is almost finished. Thanks for the ride, Kastle fam!
Ch 13- Karen has some good ideas. These two finally get what they deserve.
Ch 14- An Epilogue. A road trip and some fluff.

For the longest time lunch had felt like a push, something she’d guilted him into, practically blackmailed him into with threats of outing him in the paper, or even hunting him down in the middle of whatever he got himself into if he couldn’t agree to a weekly lunch like civil acquaintances. Friends? No word really covered all of what they were to each other…or, at least, what he was to her. What she was to him, she could only guess at, especially now. And that was the problem, wasn’t it? She was tired of guessing. She wanted to know.
Karen hatches a plan to determine how Frank feels about her, once and for all - if they're only friends, or something more. Frank is a little slow on the uptake.
