Summary
When a new baritone named Orien Hawthorne assumes the role of the Szarr Opera Palace's prima uomo, he finds himself the object of obsession for the Ascendant— a vampire known for terrorizing the opera house while wearing his signature white mask over the sunburns disfiguring his face. As the Ascendant continues to make it clearer and clearer that he wants Orien for himself, all while Orien finds himself falling in love with the Duke of Baldur's Gate, the singer realizes that he may have no choice but to give into the Ascendant's whims once and for all... that is, unless he wants to find himself or his lover enslaved or dead.
