Izuku really didn't want to believe it. But it had made sense; most of the adults in his life had said something along a similar vein. He liked studying the quirks of heroes, and it should have sunk in before now, how important - necessary, he had to correct himself - quirks were to heroics. He slid down hopelessly and let himself kneel on the roof.
A few minutes passed, or it could have been hours before he decided to take action and stand up; he felt his legs carry him towards the edge. He carefully took off his shoes; they were expensive after all. The reason why they were so expensive made his gut twist. The railing was short, only about waist height, easy to jump over. He gave one last look at the sky, light blue with some soft white clouds. What a shame it was on a beautiful day.

Izuku just isn't worth anyone's love and devotion, walking down a path he knows will eventually lead to his demise, he would rather not make a mark on anyone.

Legend also has it that the Maiden will show up on the doorstep of those she deems worthy, holding a child that will be given to the new parents. She has never been wrong in her choices. Every child who is placed has a necklace with a moth charm on it around their neck, and they speak about how they were saved by Mothman.
Legend also has it that the subway tunnels are a haven for kids on the rough side of life, homeless, abused or orphaned. If a kid manages to get through the maze, they will be welcomed into the arms of a community of other children, and find a new home through the Maiden. However, if an adult dares enter the tunnels, they will disappear, never to be seen again.

The sun was a simple design consisting of a circle with four long lines around it. One at the top, one at the bottom, one pointing to the left and the last is pointing to the right then there were four smaller lines in between those ones. The lines never touch the circle. He was so excited that he had a soulmate that he completely forgot the meaning of the colour and symbol of his mark. That was his first mistake. His second mistake was showing his mother.
