Hay muchos mitos que giran en torno a Toman, la famosa pandilla en ascenso. La mayoría son invenciones divertidas y obviamente falsas, pero todos los miembros de Toman saben que hay alguien, un fantasma, un ente, un extraño, que vela por Toman y sus capitanes de una manera que pocos comprenden: salvándoles la vida con palabras o con regalos dejados ocultos en lugares al azar y, una vez en especial, recuperando un gato.
(O Toman tiene un misterioso protector que ha estado presente en la vida de todos antes de que incluso crearan la pandilla y todos son curiosos)

The words came out smooshed together and barely intelligible, but Nicky caught the gist of his repeated mantra. "I didn't want to go, didn't—" Nicky's heart was in his throat as he petted over Neil's hair, the shorter man still gripping at his legs and crying into Nicky's neck. "I should have called him—" Mind whirling to last night, to everything that happened, from the crackers to Nicky kissing Neil to Neil then knocking himself out. No, this hadn't been a good night for Neil and it was partially Nicky's fault. He played a roll in the cracking down that was happening of Neil.
