Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.
And, after all, a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, did it?

Summary
Lately, playing hockey wasn't even as much fun as it used to be. Games were always the highlight, but even that, it didn’t feel as good since his team had been falling apart.
And all that because he came out as gay.
He didn’t really fault them for taking some time to accept it, so Shane let them talk. If that helped them digest the news, so be it.
He let them distance themselves from him, let them gossip around to other teams, let them make him the butt of jokes he didn’t understand.Shane didn’t mind, all things considered.

Summary
Refusing to let Ilya ruin his career by signing with Ottawa, Shane chooses to really give their relationship a try and moves to Boston to live with Ilya and become a Raider. What follows is enough public scrutiny and backlash from his team that it has him questioning if he made the right decision. Until moments with Ilya and the Raiders show him exactly why he chose correctly.

Hayden’s eyes flickered to Shane as he sat on the bench, chewing on the edge of his mouth guard.
“Don’t fucking look at him,” Ilya insisted as he bent down for the faceoff.
“Excuse me?” Hayden mumbled, eyes darting back to him.
“You heard me,” he retorted, his tone clipped. “He’s not your teammate anymore; he’s mine. If you think Marlow is a problem to your game, wait until you see what I will do to your team if you hurt anyone on mine again.”
Hayden scoffed, dipping his head as he tried to focus on the game. Something about Ilya’s words still rang through his head though, sounding so definitive that he didn’t want to risk seeing what he was actually referring to when he said that.
The puck dropped again, and Ilya stole it before he could comprehend how quickly it happened.

Summary
Shane Hollander is everything a team could want. He shows up early, stays late, and fixes mistakes before they ever become more then blips. By every metric he is the perfect player.
Perfection, it turns out, is not the same thing as being okay.

Summary
Deep down inside his soul, Shane is a bottomless pit of want. He wants more. More time, more Rozanov. He wants Rozanov to want him back just as badly. It’s too bad that Rozanov doesn’t seem to want anything from him at all.
It doesn’t matter. He’ll deal with it, just like he always does, because he has to. Even if he isn’t so sure he can anymore.
OR: After the MLH Awards in Vegas, Shane and Ilya hook up. What if it went a little bit differently?
