Summary
Dennis Whittaker, pampered omega son of the Double W Ranch, is expected to look pretty and stay out of the way, not get his hands dirty with real work or do anything meaningful with his life. "Whitaker, are you… should I be worried about this… are your heats normally this bad for you?"
That gave Dennis pause.
"My what?" He asked before he could stop himself. Then, tentatively after realising his mistake, "oh, I don't really— I don't really get those."
It was easy for Dennis to forget that people really did deal with heats and ruts and the like. He had been on hormone blockers ever since his parents caught onto his size and stature, ever since they had understood that their last-born son would not be an alpha like his brothers.

“That’s quite the shiner, Whitaker.”
Dennis ducked his head when he recognized Dr. Robby’s voice, studying the floor as he felt a heat rise across his face. “Yeah, well, you should see the other guy.” He tried to joke, the smile not quite reaching his eyes.
“Mob debt? Bar fight? A jilted lover?”
Too exhausted to think straight, Dennis wished that he’d spent longer on rehearsing his excuse.
Robby had already stepped into his personal space to study him more closely, a finger under his chin to gently tip his head back to see the bruising better in the harsh fluorescent light. This did nothing to help Dennis think, and he tried his best to look anywhere except for Dr. Robby’s warm brown eyes.
