“Anyway,” Zoro continued amid Sanji’s silence, “I’m not going to die.”
Sanji made a scoffing sound. “You can’t just decide that, asshole,” he said, tying off the thread. He trailed his fingertips over the jagged seam, checking for any imperfections. “You can’t cheat death.”
“We’ll see.”
To Sanji, Zoro is an enigma. An infuriating one, but one he is drawn to nonetheless. For as much self-assurance Zoro appears to have, Sanji has about as much self-doubt. If he can just understand what goes on inside that mossy head of his, maybe he can figure a few things out about himself as well.
Discovering that there might be something other than rivalry brewing between them, is something Sanji isn't quite prepared for.

It irked Zoro that upon meeting him, a whirlwind of limbs, blue eyes and a cigarette dangling from his cocky smile, something in his gut flip-flopped, instead of the usual, clear feeling he usually got when he met men, like a natural yes/no answer. Obviously, the lovesick fool greatly admired women, ceaselessly shouting his love for them at any opportunity. But he had met many a man like that who still sought to warm his bed- and Sanji was... well, Sanji . His simple existence riled Zoro up like no other. And why does it matter to him what the shitty cook’s preferences are anyways?

It's all too common a scene - Sanji can only admit he wants Zoro when he's drunk, Zoro has to grapple with knowing he and Sanji could be so happy if only Sanji could bring himself to be honest when they're both sober, and in the morning he has to deal with things going back just the way they were without hope of any resolution between them, sexual or otherwise.
Except this time it's the morning-after and Sanji is dropping heavy hints he remembers EXACTLY what happened between them during their last drunken rendezvous-
Except EXCEPT they didn't actually manage to DO anything, so what the hell is it that Sanji remembers?Aka. "it's sexy when Sanji has to - or chooses to - vocalise what he wants before he can get it", the fic. What was originally PWP that ran away from me and now covers Sanji's load-bearing heterosexuality (self-inflicted), character introspection for he and Zoro both, and a burgeoning romance. He leaves Zoro standing in the crisp air as the sun barely peaks the tips of its fingers over the horizon.
Before Zoro kisses him, he’s going to kill Sanji first.
Fooling around with the waiter would be great, actually, if Sanji wasn't the most infuriating person alive.
