Angel makes no move to leave the bar as Husk finishes closing up, his shoulders hunched and his arms limp at his sides.
Husk swallows back the anger that bubbles to the surface of his skin as he thinks of what exactly Valentino must have put him through tonight to render him so… empty.
Husk shakes his head. There’s time for anger later. But not now, when Angel so clearly needs his help.
“C’mere,” Husk says, gently helping Angel to stand. “Why don’t we head upstairs?”

In our private feed, Gurathin sounded…angry, perhaps more so than I’ve ever heard him before. He hadn’t moved, though. And his face remained in its normal “I am currently at rest, but being an asshole is always an option” configuration. He hadn’t subvocalized, and he still appeared to be staring vaguely in the direction of a particularly verdant plant biome. The rest of the PresAux team carried on their human chatter, oblivious.

Summary
Months before the apocalypse, Sam Yao and Runner Five crashed into each other at a club and various things occurred, which neither of them was inclined to remember. When Sam's memory is suddenly jogged one night at Abel, he has to figure out what to do with these memories. While the entire township is placing bets on when they will hook up, he knows that he's already kissed her... and she doesn't remember any of it.

He hopes Janine is watching Simon’s tracker, because right now he can’t take his eyes off of Five’s route as it makes a definitive turn for the school. “No, no, no,” Sam says. “Runner Five, you’re heading straight for a hot zone. You don’t want to go in there. Trust me, kid zoms are the worst. It’s horrible; they’re all--small, and helpless-looking…”
There’s a double-tap of acknowledgment from Runner Five’s headset and no deviation from this new and terrible course. “Or you could do whatever you want,” Sam finishes weakly, looking over to see how far out Simon is.
He catches Janine’s eye by accident, and he gets the expression that says unmistakably, you are the worst operator ever.
