Summary
Castiel, the God of Darkness and Stillness, is attacked by the other gods and forced to hide in the human realm. Enraged, he decides to break the rules as well and create life on his own, which leads to the apparition of the Fay, a race of beings born of magic and nature, living peacefully in the forest. Castiel is mesmerized by the Fay kingdom, and their presence gives his immortal life meaning once again. But when the Fay kingdom falls, leaving the Fay prince called Dean with only Rowena the witch as his family, Castiel feels pushed into exile and hiding once again, until Dean finds him and asks for his help. Castiel feels the love burning brightly in his heart and realizes that he still has something to fight for with all his godly might.

Summary
Ruby was resurrected as an angel, but she doesn’t feel like she belongs in Heaven. Her wings, darker than any other angel’s around, are a constant reminder of who she really is. Things only take a turn for the better when she receives a mission back on Earth - supervising the Winchesters without making her presence known. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long for a hunt to go wrong and she has to decide whether she'll just watch Sam lose his brother and be in pain again, or disobey her orders and help.

It’s described by their new hunting buddy as a symbol of unfulfilled love and a star-like creature that tempts heartbroken people and feeds on their life force, so the Winchesters end up thinking about their own love issues. For Sam that means his desire and hesitance to propose to Eileen and for Dean it is the weight of all the unsaid words around Castiel’s death. The success of this hunt might depend on whether Sam can help Dean confront his feelings for Castiel and move on from his death or not.
