Harlequin's grin widened. “Something like that.”
“And you want me to use yours, not this one.”
“Sharp of you,” his tone was saccharine.
They offered their hand for the green ticket. He leaned back, gaze flicking between them and the ticket in his hands. They raised an eyebrow, wiggling their fingers impatiently.
Something like disgust crossed his face, overtaken by a gleeful sort of malice as he swapped the tickets out smoothly. Harlow tucked his ticket away before he could notice theirs was punched already.
“This is–”
“I have to get to work, sorry! Thanks for the ticket!”

Summary
You've been shadowed by Pierrot and Harlequin for a few weeks now, and as creepy as it had been initially, repetition breeds routine, and routine breeds familiarity. Thus you reluctantly accept the Circus as part of your daily life. What you cannot so easily accept though, is each tempting glimpse you get from beneath their masks.
Something not quite human. Something maybe yet undiscovered. Maybe you could be the first to understand it, to register it. Maybe you would quickly learn why it had remained unregistered for so long.
