Summary
Buck didn’t expect a warm welcome when he returned to the 118 after the lawsuit, but he also didn't think his teammates’ anger would last forever. When months go by and Buck is still all but invisible to the team, he decides that everyone would be less miserable if he worked anywhere else.
But leaving the 118 behind is no easy feat, and Buck isn’t sure if he can fully let go of the people he loves…especially his partner and his favorite kid. When Buck isn't allowed to see bobby at the hospital, he stresses about not having any "real" family. Eddie's obvious and completely normal answer to this is to get married have Buck adopt his son. Chris's abandonment issues and Eddie's ptsd thrown in for extra fun.

“Not particularly.” Hen said gently.
“It’s funny. Like, the whole, when you get to rock bottom and you don’t think there’s any more, any further to fall, right? But then it turns out you were wrong. Rock bottom wasn’t actually rock bottom. It was the overhang.”
“Overhang for what?” Hen asked worriedly.
OR
A small thing can topple the strongest of resolves. For Buck, it's been one thing after another after another. But he doesn't snap, he doesn't get loud, he doesn't want to be more of a burden.
