With the power distribution systems offline, the ship’s emergency lighting flickered to life, bathing every corridor and room in a sickly red glow. It was just enough light to see a short distance ahead— Unfortunately, the moment of visibility wouldn’t last long.
The generator that supplied power to the emergency lights failed in a tick, plunging the ship into a black so deep that it swallowed the stars outside.
That’s when the crew heard it: a rhythmic, metallic tapping that echoed not from the hull, but from inside the vents.

Summary
Realizing the fact that Ratio had piercings, of all things, and that he had hid it from Aventurine in all the times they fooled around, made the Stoneheart feel funny things in his gut. This was going to be interesting, to say the least.
Snaking his arms around Ratio’s waist, Aventurine brushed along his sides slowly, giving his chest a quick meaningful squeeze at the end. Satisfied with the hitch in Ratio’s breath, he pressed on, letting his fingers dance lightly across the glinting gemstone on his neck. “And why, I see you’ve been keeping…certain assets a secret from me.”
In which Aventurine discovers Ratio’s nipple piercings in a pleasant surprise, and shows his appreciation.
