Summary
“There was a collision on the highway, due to the stormy weather conditions.” The doctor explained, her voice careful. “Your son and his mother, Rio, were involved. Your son is stable, but shaken. Ms. Vidal sustained critical injuries and is in surgery. You should come as soon as possible.”
Her breath hitched. Her pulse roared in her ears. Her hands shook.
“No.” She whispered, to herself more than Dr Robbins. It didn’t make sense. It couldn’t be real. It couldn’t be happening again.
But the doctor kept talking, giving her more details, repeating herself when she didn’t respond.
And then-
“Momma!”
She sucked in a hiss of a breath at the sound of Nicky’s voice in the background — high, panicked, crying.
“I need my Momma, please! Is she-”
“I’ll be right there.” She blurted out, barely recognizing her own voice.
OR, Agatha gets a call that her ex-wife, Rio, and son, Nicky, were in a car accident. Except, two years prior, the exact same situation caused the two to divorce.

Summary
Maybe it would have been sensible to stay home this evening, cancel plans rather than go out with people to celebrate Jen’s birthday. Agatha could be sitting with a glass of wine on the sofa, rather than have just spent £18 on a rubbish drink. But sitting around the house alone for the hundredth night in a row (well 25th night in the row, actually, not that she has been counting) seemed even more depressing.
She had been on track with her original plan, she hardly drank through the meal and sat in polite conversation with the other women, before she was guilted to head to a bar with them. There was at least one mouthful of wine left, which meant she could leave without seeming like a killjoy, when she finally gave in and looked at her phone that had been buzzing nonstop in her bag for the previous hour.
That had been where it all went wrong, she was quickly met with a photo of Rio looking ridiculously hot in a ridiculously short black dress that set a flame burning inside.
OR
Agatha decides to stay out longer than intended and Rio can't stay away.

Summary
"She’s not my type," Agatha said firmly, crossing her arms.
Lilia raised an eyebrow, swirling her wine like a soap opera villain. "So you have a type? Do enlighten us."
Agatha groaned. "Fine. If you must know, I’m straight. And even if I wasn’t, Rio is at least ten years younger than me. I would never go there."
Cue Rio Vidal—Agatha’s insufferably smug, boundaryless neighbour—who has zero respect for personal space, steals her ice cream, wears her clothes, and now, apparently, needs a fake girlfriend for a work event.
Agatha should say no. She wants to say no. But somehow, she doesn’t.
Now she’s fake dating the most irritating woman alive, their friends are watching like it’s a spectator sport, and the walls between their apartments are very thin.
It’s fine. It’s fake. It’s strictly platonic.
…So why is Agatha’s stomach flipping every time Rio looks at her like that?
Or: Agatha insists she's straight, Rio insists on being a menace, and everyone else insists that there's a "vibe".

Summary
24-year-old Agatha Harkness has the moral backbone of a chocolate éclair when it comes to doing her mother’s bidding. She’s relatively okay with this until Evanora has her scope out the political competition.
OR, Agatha hooks up with Rio Vidal, the woman running against her mother for her incumbent state legislative seat. So what. It’s not like it’ll get serious.
