This is a pretty light holiday coffee shop. Just figured I'd give it a try for some nice soft fluff to read over the holidays.This is more or less cannon divergent in than anything. It can take place any season and definitly not meant to be taken too seriously. The main divergence is that Sam and Dean have never met Cas.

Dean grieving for Cas. Lots of character study.
The prompt was an image that said "you dont think you deserve to be saved." And then "he saved me." And then someone quoted Titanic, "in all the ways that a person can be saved."
This was pretty much me doing a free writing of Dean being forced to think about Cas summoning the empty, and being dragged away after saying I love You. It was originally supposed to be Sam pushing him to talk about what really happened... but somehow it morphed into this whole thing about Dean's self hatred.
I decided to post this as part 1... all of Deans irrational self blame. This of course is the begining if the journey, there is more to come.
Content Warning: Dean's self assessment is harsh and shines a light on some deeply painful things. So... it could be hard to read.

Summary
This takes place around the events of episode 5x3. While Lucifer is seducing Sam as Jessica, Cas has come to tell Dean that they need to track down the angel who killed him (Rafael) to stop the apocalypse and he probably won't survive. He needs Dean's help because, as Michael's vessel, no other angel would dare harm Dean.
*I think I've worked out the typos, let me know if I've missed any.
*I plan for it to be part of a series on the evolution of Destiel on the DL.

This is not the finale I wanted. This was the finale I challenged myself to come up with, using the same basic storyline and the same covid restrictions and the same cast members.
Because the finale was a trainwreck and, I am sorry to say, not a good episode.
This is not a proper fan fic. This is a summary. Still I post it here, hoping it will bring peace. I am without my laptop and had to write this on my phone.
Please be forgiving.
I present this as evidence that with time and covid restrictions, the ending could have still been creative, and that even without a specific outcome or even one I particularly liked, they could have put in effort and written a good episde.
