Geralt didn't manage to suppress his wince.
"I am told," Emhyr continued, "that a creature dubbed the 'Beast of Beauclair,' one Dettlaff van der Eretein, was responsible. Of course, these reports detail your extensive involvement, as well."
Emhyr met Geralt's eyes, and then nodded to himself, like the whole story was written out right there on Geralt's face. "I see," he murmured. "According to these reports, the Beast was a higher vampire. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to speak of him in the present tense, as he remains, by all accounts, very much alive."
Geralt is summoned, quite unwillingly, to discuss the threat of higher vampires with Emhyr var Emreis. With his own higher vampire hiding in plain sight in Velen, he finds he has a lot of feelings on the subject.
