Luffy could only watch as the mer held captive his beloved beach ball.
'This is too easy. I can't wait to hear the symphony of gurgling this snotty nose brat will make as I drag him under the foamy waves to the bottom of the sea.' Glee sparks in red eyes at the mental image.
Or Shanks is a probably (definitely) murderous mer. Luffy has no self-preservation instincts and goes "You are my friend now" and it's getting worse before it gets better
