Ronan wished he'd brought a fucking hat. The afternoon sun on his pale Irish skin is not going to go down well if he didn't get back in the car soon but he liked doing it this way, sitting against the hood of his car, arms crossed, waiting in the lot of Boyd's garage to pick Adam up from work. He liked to see the flash of a smile that crossed Adam's face when he exited the garage and caught sight of Ronan around the corner of the building, waiting for him, that flash of a smile he would try to hide but never quite managed to, that lightning flash of a smile that showed up even though he knew Ronan would be there that never failed to rocket straight down Ronan's spine and set him alight. It's fucking adorable. Ronan couldn't get enough of it, which is why he scowled deeply when Boyd was the one who walked around the side of the building and toward him then.
"Face the car, kid," Boyd said, "We need to talk and I don't want any lookie-loos. I only gotta couple minutes before Adam's done inside."
(Or, that time Adam faces his past head-on and Ronan says three very special words.)
