Jim is not interested in diplomacy. Summary
The Enterprise is almost a year into their Five Year Mission. Jim and Spock are a command team that is admired and well respected by the crew. Behind closed doors, they've become the closest of friends. When the Enterprise is charged with transporting Vulcan Ambassadors to New Vulcan, the opportunity to spend time planet-side is presented and Spock invites Jim to his father's house during shore leave. Excited and hopeful that this is the chance to talk with Spock about moving their relationship forward, Jim accepts. In the meantime, several members of the crew have taken the offered opportunity for shore leave and several ranking officers have accepted the New VSA's invitation to help with their database rebuilding efforts.
