"What-," Lena paused and ran her tongue along the front of her teeth. "Reign," she asked patiently, feeling a headache at the base of her spine. "Why have you brought me a....'" she let out a breath as Reign's dark lips split into a smile. It was slightly tilted as though the woman wasn't familiar with the movement, and it struck Lena that, that were the case, and it slid from her face at Lena's lack of response. "Kitty?" Hearing the Worldkiller say such a juvenile thing made Lena's lip twitch but she fought down the amusement. "That is a mountain lion," she nodded and the big cat yowled in fury and squirmed in the Kryptonian's vice-like hold.
It seemed almost resigned to its fate and Lena wondered just how it had struggled and how terrified it had been flying through the air.
Reign nodded. "You are worth more than the small creatures I have seen in the city."
Lena let out a long sigh. She needed a drink.

Summary

Lena hated herself; she hated herself for just watching as her mother died besides her, she hated herself for not being able to save her father, she hated herself for not being able to save those thousands of innocent lives taken by Lex, she hated herself for betraying her family and for breaking Jack's heart. She hated herself for breathing, she hated herself for existing when everybody around her either died or left. She was cursed, just like her mother had said.
So now she was here, twenty-four years old and all alone with not a soul to talk to, touch-starved and possibly senile as she drank away her memories one glass of wine at a time.
And maybe that's why, when a meteorite - small in comparison to the vast of the quickly darkening sky but made up for by the colourful flames that brightened the sea of blue around it as it trailed behind the meteorite - caught in the corner of Lena's vision, the young woman couldn't help but do a triple take and then promptly fall off her couch.
Or,
Kara is much older when her planet dies and she's sent to Earth to look after her baby cousin, and instead of Superman finding her, Lena Luthor does.

She jabbed a finger in the hero's chest, "Why do you insist on feeding me?!" she accused, "What do you have to gain from it all, hmm?!" her eyes were predatory, filled to the brim with frustration.
"M-Ms. Luthor, I don't know what you're talking about." Supergirl stuttered.
"The coffees, and croissants, and sushi, and salads. All of it! Why are you bringing me food everyday? I'm not crazy, I've seen your cape flying about! I'm more than capable of feeding myself, you don't need to bring me food, Supergirl!"
AKA
The fic where Jess goes on vacation and appoints Supergirl the responsibility of making sure Ms. Luthor is well fed and food randomly starts showing up on Lena’s balcony and Lena is very very confused.
