Summary
Don’t get attached. That’s the only rule Commander Tower gives Shadow the Hedgehog for his next assignment: kill Espio the Chameleon of the Chaotix. Should be easy, right?
After the battle with Infinite, Espio and the rest of the Chaotix return home, exhausted but excited over their victory. Shadow starts entering Espio’s life, to the chameleon’s surprise. He starts to realize there’s more to Shadow than meets the eye, and he wants to learn more about him. Maybe more than he expected.
“Solo,” Tower says. “This one might be a bit different than normal, as you do know the target.” “I generally do, Commander,” Shadow says, keeping his voice dead and emotionless. “Any details?”
Shadow hates everything about G.U.N, so he enjoys making them squirm.
“Your target is Espio the Chameleon.” He pauses, then continues after a deep breath. “ we don’t know what he saw or took, and we need you to get it out of him, and figure who he’s told, if anyone. ‘Befriend’ him, torture him, I don’t care. You can do whatever you want. Just one thing, though.”
Shadow sighs before responding. “What?”
“Don’t get attached, Agent.”

Summary
After the events of Sonic Prime, Sonic and Shadow are faced with a series of emotional challenges that force their darkest versions of themselves to the surface. Rouge helps Shadow realize he has feelings for Sonic, but in order to move forward with a new love, he must first make peace with Maria's death. The rest of the team must embrace all sides of Sonic and Shadow if their relationship is going to survive. Rouge and Knuckles get together, but when Knuckles finds out the real reason Rouge slept with him, Knuckles pushes her away. Nine hurt himself using the unstable Paradox Prism during Sonic Prime, but he did more damage to himself than he had previously thought. Sonic must do everything he can to save his fox friend, but to do so, he must confront his own guilt for the events of Sonic Prime.
Meanwhile, Eggman hatches a plot to end Sonic once and for all and use the Paradox Prism to erase the entire team from existence. All characters from Green Hill and New Yoke City must come together to stop him, but in order to keep the power of the Prism and the Chaos Emerald out of the wrong hands for good, one brave hero must make the ultimate sacrifice. -
