    “Shit, V, you got shot?” He approached her, kneeling down to her level. She was covering the wound with her hand, but judging about how much blood there was, the bullet pierced right through her.

    “Wow, fancy that. Didn’ even notice.” V scowled, her voice tight with pain. She winced as she removed her hand from the wound, revealing quite a nasty looking bullet hole in her side.

    The engram winced in empathy. “Looks pretty nasty. Got you real good.”

    V was hired to investigate the passing of the late Mayor Lucius Rhyne and teams up with an NCPD detective to solve the case. A cop and a merc, an unlikely pairing under the gloom of Night City, yet they find it hard to deny their chemistry with each passing moment spent together.
    The only problem was that V was running out of time.

     

    This fic contains some rehashing of some canon events, mostly the first chapter though some will be used later on as well.

    Escaping death is something most people would be lucky to do once. V though is a bit luckier than most, cheating death twice, but not unscathed. She's made, and lost, some great chooms along the way. A few of those chooms have to come together and help her start the next path after her second revival. And now that the fires have settled will she finally feel ready to let one of those chooms get a little closer?

    TLDR: Following Mikoshi V gets a third chance at happy life in Night City, and a certain ex-badge is along for the whole ride.
