The Old World was lost to famine and calamity and a new, harsher one has risen in its place. A city divided into sectors, ruled by a king and his chaebol court, where the Marked struggle to eke out a living in poverty and oppression, and one mistake can get you sanctioned forever - lost to hard labor in the factories and greenhouses or to life as a companion trapped in the gilded apartments of the inner sector elite.

Jimin hesitates. Then, “Y-Yes.”

Jimin nods, his jaw clenching shut as he tries to hold back the roiling nausea in his gut. The police officer just stares back at him, those careful eyes warning against deception.
