Summary
“Mydei! There you are.”
His eyes flutter, no longer half-lidded, staring at the source of that familiar voice. “Deliverer.”
Phainon nods, not the slightest bit put off by his gruff greeting, casually petting Kokopo’s side.
Mydei inhales deeply, trying to push the haze back, suppressing a growl when Phainon’s scent fills his nose instead. It’s distinct against the whirl of grey all around, sharp and warm – sweet oranges and heady bergamot, flares of ozone and a pang of seasalt. Locating him anywhere was as simple as following that golden trail he left behind no matter where he went.
He swallows, hard. His throat bobs. His teeth ache. He steels his jaw, curls his brass claw into his own arm to distract himself from the heat flaring up in his stomach.
“What do you want?” Mydei asks, voice rougher than usual.
Mydeimos plans on dealing with his rut as he always has: by ignoring it. Phainon's infuriatingly alluring scent throws a wrench in those plans, and Mydeimos finds himself struggling to resist his instincts more than ever.

Phainon, please, Mydei groaned mentally, feeling himself irreparably falling into the abyss, just for one fucking day, don't be so perfect.
Because Mydei was absolutely certain: just this morning, he had loved this insufferable idiot to the absolute maximum of his capabilities. But right now, looking at that stupid glitter on his face, he realized that there was simply no limit to this disaster.
Mydei would burn the world down for Phainon. Phainon would sacrifice his own happiness for Mydei. And the Central Hospital Security Department (along with the Head Nurse) is ready to chip in for a hotel room just to make it stop.

"And?" He asks tiredly, manages to make a circle in the air with his hand before it flops back down to the ground uselessly. "I'm willing to bet anything that I've loved you since our first real meeting, even if I cannot recall it."
Mydei considers him carefully for a long moment. An unreadable look crosses his face before he shakes it off. "You are hopeless," he says quietly.
Phainon smiles, a smaller but no less genuine expression. Mydei's gaze snaps to his lips, and Phainon revels in the knowledge that his eyes haven't left him once, even after their battle ended. He hums happily. "Perhaps so."
