Summary
“Frank.”
The name isn’t loud, especially in the rising din of the ER, but something about the raw terror in it makes Jessa’s heart leap. She spins around to look at Dr. King, and finds that her face is so white that Jessa reaches out unconsciously to grab her by the arms and steady her. She remembers just in time that Dr. King doesn’t like to be touched except by a very few people (Dr. Langdon, Dr. Mohan, occasionally Dr. Santos) and she jerks her hands back.
“Dr. King? Are you okay?”

Summary
Fourteen day shifts that Mel and Frank share after he returns to work.
He instinctively looked for a braid and scrub pants, the only fit he'd ever seen her in. It took his brain a hot second to realise the woman in jeans, white sneakers, and a ponytail through her snapback was actually Mel.
At which point he walked full tilt into a wall.

Summary
The moment the pieces fit together Cassie has to scoff at her own stupidity.
The picture keeps shining back at her from his phone, no matter how long she stares at it. One sigh. Two heartbeats. Three taps of her foot. His screen doesn’t turn off. Four shakes of her head. Five blinks. Six seconds.
The fool must have disabled automatic the screen dim feature just so he could longingly and dreamily and stupidly stare at a photo of Mel, despite the fact that Cassie is pretty sure every time Langdon closes his eyes he can see Mel perfectly in his mind.
Cassie lets her emotions battle it out for a second inside her. In the end, both disgust and fondness tie for first place.
It’s nice to see Langdon like this, of course. Pathetically pining, sure, but also awkwardly excited. Carefully optimistic for all that he is worried and tentative, too.
(or, five times someone sees a picture of mel on frank's phone + one time someone sees a picture of frank on mel's phone)

Summary
It’s an awful day.
Mel doesn’t know exactly why she gets like this, but sometimes her senses are just dialed up to a thousand, and the fluorescent lights and frantic sounds of the E.D. make her want to vomit. (Well, they always a little bit make her want to vomit, but sometimes they make her actually pretty sure she’s going to have to run to the bathroom and vomit).
That’s bad enough, but then sometimes, she gets a patient who notices she’s a little off and wants to personally inform her of their feelings about it.
~~~
A patient takes issue with Mel. Langdon is there.
