Summary
Carl’s first impression of Akram is not his face or even his voice. It’s his solid weight settled on Carl’s belly, legs splayed wide, slacks riding up just slightly as Akram saves Carl from his pitiful attempt to bench press. Carl is secretly grateful to have a legitimate reason to be out of breath, not just the exquisite man perched sinfully on his lap. All in all, it’s an incredibly distracting way to meet his new assistant.

Fabiano hadn’t planned on staying. He was invited out of some half-hearted courtesy, most likely some students jonesing for brownie points. He’d shown up for wine. Not some frat made jungle juice, or some watered down mixture of lychee and tea. But real, good wine. Perhaps hidden in the cabinets. Loose lips and even looser security lead to pretty wide pickings, if you knew where to look. And perhaps, secretly, he’d hoped from a reprieve from heaps upon heaps of marking. A break, if you would. A sordid distraction.
He wasn’t, however, in the mood for noise. The sheer, discordant cacophony of noises and moaning and utter frivolity - it irritated him.
But just before, Fabiano saw him.
