He tried to forget it.
He tried.
But the stench of expensive cigarettes filling his nostrils and burning its way down his lungs is as familiar as the hug of his mother. Hands dancing across his chest up to his face, disgustingly intimate as they hold his head in place. Try as they might, he can still feel the edge of the knife digging into his side.
One couldn’t run away from the past forever but Jae Won hoped and prayed that he could no matter how futile it might be. Alas, life has its plan for him.
With every last bit of hope he has left in his heart - no different than a young child asking Santa for their Christmas present - his final wish to whoever is listening.
For the people he loves never to find out his past, and for Baek Kang Hyuk to be oblivious just this one time.

"Why are you here?" Baku asks coolly.
“To have one last conversation with you,” Baekjin says with a serene smile.
"Why, are you dying tomorrow?" Baku bites his tongue and sneers. "Why last conversation?" He grits through his teeth.
“Because you’re going to defeat me tomorrow,” Baekjin says. His voice softens. His eyes shift. They become a little sad. A defeated look before an actual defeat.
"Tomorrow, you’ll fight me, defeat me. And then…” He sucks in a breath, exhales like it pains him. “You’ll leave me.” He says quietly.
Or the one where Baekjin had a premonition of the fight and the consequences of defeat a day before the brawl happened. And he decided he needs to do something about it.
