Summary
Dorian hadn't thought much about what he should expect when he returned to Zephrah after things finally settled down. Being introduced to people he already knew, but in a different context now, gave him some unexpected mixed feelings. So many people were happy for Orym because they knew what he had been through in losing Will. Dorian felt the pressure to fill a Will-shaped hole in not just Orym's life, but also in the lives of those close to him. And that was absolutely not something he wanted to do. He had no intention of trying to take Will's place. That place in Orym's heart and life belonged only to Will. Dorian liked to think he had a place pretty damn close to Will's, but it was his own place. He had nothing but respect for the love Orym still held for Will.

Summary
Orym awoke feeling remarkably well-rested, considering what lay before them that day. That thought was quickly chased away by the realization that he wasn't alone in bed like he had expected to be. But the presence there in the bed with him wasn't someone he was unused to, it had just been so long since they had last woken up together - and never quite like this - that he almost thought he was still asleep and dreaming, his mind trying to mercifully grant him some kind of escape before it returned to thoughts of what was to come.
But no, Dorian was really there with him, holding him. They had shifted in the night and Orym found himself spooned against Dorian, feeling his heartbeat against his back and his soft breath against the back of his neck. Dorian's arm was hooked over him, his hand resting over Orym's. His heart fluttered as he realized their conversation the night before had been real. It hadn't been a dream. Dorian actually returned his feelings, something he had only ever dreamed might be true.

Summary
Orym snaps back awake, his jaw clenched so hard against a scream that it aches, tears streaming down his face. He rolls onto his back, staring up at the stars, turned honey colored by the amber light of the dome.
This feels too much like the endless months after Will and Derrig had died. The broken sleep. The nightmares. The panic upon waking, made worse by reaching out for someone who was no longer there, that would never be there again. Only time and the love and support of those around him had brought gradual, eventual relief. But they don’t have time. Everything is happening so fast.
“Please.” Orym doesn’t know who he’s directing his plea to. The gods? The spirits of those he has lost? The stars themselves? “Please, I just need to sleep.”
“Orym?” Dorian’s voice, barely a whisper. “Are you all right?”
