Steve sniffled against Eddie's shirt, his tiny voice muffled. "...Even if I was bad?"
That was when Wayne came in from the porch (he'd been smoking). He stomped his boots, looked at the scene, then pointed dramatically toward the ceiling.
"Well, I'll be damned... y'all hear that? Sounds like sleigh bells outside."Steve's head snapped up, eyes wide. He scrambled to the window, pressing his palms to the cold glass. "He is real!"
And in the background, Robin leaned over to Nancy and whispered. "That was the smoothest save I've ever seen in my life."

Summary
Eddie stood up, alarmed now. “Hey, buddy I’m right here. Do you need something? Do you want water? Tell me what I can do, please.” Eddie’s voice grew so quiet he was barely whispering. He was pleading now.
Kneeling on the carpet before the couch, looking up at Steve, his eyes grew misty like he was about to cry. Steve didn’t know how to ask for Eddie to touch him. That stupid rule. He didn’t want to reach out and touch Eddie without permission, but he wanted so badly to hold the man in front of him.
Steve lifted a hand slowly, reaching out silently. He let it hover before Eddie, not touching. His eyes implored Eddie to understand.
“Do you want to touch me?” Steve nodded and Eddie could have crowed with joy. “Yes, Steve. Anything you need.”
