Cause and effect. Action and consequence. One flap of a butterfly's wings. One hurricane on the other side of the world. One stupid Russian hockey player in love with another stupid Canadian hockey player, deciding he wanted just a little more from his relationship. One suggestion. One fight. One flight. One crash. One shattered body in a hospital bed and one devastated boyfriend who looked like he hadn't slept in days.
Ilya grimaced. No, that wasn't fair. Not to himself, and not to Shane. And yet the thought refused to let go of him, circling back again and again like it had nowhere else to land.
Because if one tiny thing could ruin everything… then maybe it was also true the other way around. Maybe one tiny thing could fix it, too.
