Summary
It had started as a small, insignificant headline of some strange new disease in central Europe but none of the bigger news channels had paid it much attention. The last pandemic was just about over and no one wanted to deal with the reality of another one hitting so soon after the last one, so the borders had remained open, the flights had continued to take people across the globe and the sickness had spread. When reports came that something strange was happening in the bigger cities, it was already too late. That corpses came back to life and attacked the living seemed like the plot of some unoriginal horror film, but when people had realized it was their new reality the infestation had spread too far to get under control.

Summary
“Besides, you’ve just seen the barista violently murder someone. Shouldn’t you be more concerned?” Hidan asked with a grin on his lips and raised an eyebrow as he studied Kakuzu’s reaction.
Kakuzu snorted and their eyes met.
“You saved me from getting my clothes dirty. I appreciate that.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“If I’m this unaffected by it all, shouldn’t you be concerned too?”
“What if we’re both a pair of psycho killers?”
“What if we are.”

“You’re so damn annoying. Your religious manic preaching gets on my nerves and your damn prayers take up too much of my time.”
“...but?”
“There’s no but. That’s all I wanted to say.”
Hidan laughed out loud at this and kicked back at Kakuzu’s legs. The older man yelped but snorted and Hidan felt his body jerk with suppressed laughter behind him.
“You’re such a fucking asshole ‘Kuzu. Don’t insult Jashin-sama. It’s blasphemy,” Hidan said but there wasn’t any bite in his voice and the panic he’d felt was gone. Kakuzu just hummed. He still had his face against Hidan’s back. Hidan could feel his breath on his skin. It felt nice. Kakuzu must be more drunk than he’d thought because it was very unusual for the older man to be this soft. -

“I’m at a point now,-” Kakuzu continued, “-where I have to make a choice. And I think that whichever way I choose will end up badly for me.”
Tore took a deep breath and gazed out over the yard and the fields beyond. He was silent for a few moments, as if gathering his thoughts and trying to find the right words to say. Then he turned to look at his friend with a very serious expression on his old, wrinkled face.
“Think of your future, Kakuzu. And think carefully. Is this man you barely know, worth risking it all for?”

“Streaming you say. Do you make good money on that?”
“I get by… Why do you ask?” Hidan said suspiciously and narrowed his eyes at the older man. What kind of rude question was that?
“I’ll pay you twice what you make if you’ll agree to take care of my dogs during the day instead.” Kakuzu deadpanned and Hidan had to take a moment to make sure he understood correctly.
“You… You want to hire me to.. dogsit for you?”
“Yes. They obviously seem to like you and if they behave the way you say they do I need to deal with that problem. What do you say? I’ll pay you in cash.”
“Uh… Sure.”

Sometimes, we get what we deserve. And sometimes, that isn't a bad thing.
In which Frank finally gets a sandwich, as well as some goddamn love and acceptance. Not to mention a whole lot of human contact . . . if you catch my drift.

Summary
After years of traveling to Erebor to celebrate the New Year with his dwarven friends, Bilbo Baggins decides that the time has come to stay in the Shire. He has certain familial obligations that have gone unaddressed for too long. Specifically, an orphaned nephew who needs him. Much as he will miss the Durin's Day celebrations, and a certain dwarf in particular, his travels must end. Fortunately, that does not preclude others from traveling to visit him.
