Summary
Steve and Eddie are close. The whole party knows that; it’s not a secret. But they’re close in the way they’re all close, right? The bonds of trauma, or something like that. They’re close like Steve and Robin are close, like Jonathan and Argyle are close, like Will and El are close.
Right?
Slowly, Will turns back around and peeks around the corner again.
Snippets of their conversation float over to him. Steve is adding chocolate chips to the batter and Eddie is leaning up against the counter next to him, one arm looped loosely around Steve’s waist, the other reaching into the bowl to steal chocolate chips and nibble on them.
Eddie rests his chin on Steve’s shoulder and hums. “Is this what it’s gonna be like when we have those six little Harringtons? You makin’ breakfast every morning?”
Or: Will wakes up early after a sleepover at the Harrington house. He sees something in the kitchen he wasn't meant to see, which prompts the realization that he might not be as alone as he thought.

Eddie laid there. Cold, alone, and frightened. Life was a bitch? Sure. But surely his death would’ve been swift?
Distantly, he can still hear the surroundings of the Upside Down, of Dustin screaming for help, of vines squelching disgustingly around him, the sound of Nancy taking control, and someone else purely sobbing.
Who would even care that much to sound so distressed? Eddie thinks callously to himself. Even during his last moments, eyes, and limbs too heavy to fight anymore, he’s still as cruel to himself as ever. He’s just nothing. Just trailer trash. A freak.

Eddie's dying, or so he thinks, and his brain takes him on a journey of his own suffering. Eddie's backstory is included, and we get to see more about him and his relationship with Wayne.And a cheeky bit of Steddie because they deserve to be happy.

Summary
Wayne looks down at the kid standing in the driveway.
He’s a little thing - Edward, the social worker had called him - dressed in ratty jeans and a baggy sweatshirt despite the overwhelming heat. He's feral, twitchy, hurt and hurting and Wayne loves him immediately, incredibly, irrevocably.
“You comin’ in?” Wayne asks knowing, in the soul of him, that this is gonna be the long haul and realizing he doesn’t mind, actually.
Eddie nods.
