    Summary

    "Holy shit, Rozanov," Shane moaned.

He dropped his forehead onto his folded arms. His brow furrowed deeply as his mouth dropped open in ecstasy. The pleasure-pain threatened to overwhelm his senses completely.

"It's good?" Rozanov asked from somewhere above him.

"So fucking good," Shane slurred. "What are you doing to me?"

A dark chuckle was all the reply that he got as the pressure at the base of his spine continued to build.

    ------------------------

Or: Shane and Ilya never hook up at the CCM shoot or anytime after that. Instead, Ilya gets traded to Montreal during the 2013-2014 season. Shane discovers that Rozanov is a man of many talents after he accidentally becomes Shane's massage therapist.

    Summary

A Zane Boodram POV of Ilya's journey from his last year in Boston to his first year on the Centaurs with Shane. Featuring: Zane's gaydar being completely faulty as he witnesses the four years of long distance that Ilya and Shane have to go through and chocks it up to guys being bros, and the dramatic irony filled conclusions he comes to about his new best friend Ilya Rozanov.

As canon compliant of a fic as possible (shared between the books and show) that also takes into consideration the real time goings on of the NHL during the four years that are explored (it makes Hollanov's relationship even better I swear). Tags will be updated as the story is published.

After Zane had already passed Rozanov in the hallway, he heard a much quieter, “Rozanov.”

Zane turned his body halfway back. “Huh?”

Rozanov seemed less confident than he had a moment before, and was now standing fully upright.

“It is pronounced Ro-ZA-nov. With emphasis on the,” he held up two fingers as if giving a peace sign, “second syllable.”

Zane blinked, and turned fully back to the man, who was looking quite earnest.

    Summary

“You shouldn’t be smoking here.” Shane can’t help turning on his “Captain” voice.

The man’s eyes flick up to Shane’s face. And holy shit he’s hot. Curling blonde hair, flashing eyes, and a jawline that could cut glass. He’s also clearly pissed off. He takes another drag from the cigarette and blows smoke from the side of his mouth, away from Shane and the entrance.

    Or
Irina and Ilya Rozanov leave Moscow when he’s 13 and move to Boston. Ilya stops playing hockey and becomes a doctor of emergency medicine.

Shane Hollander was the number one draft pick and is now the Captain of the Boston Bears.

    One night, they meet.

    Summary

Rozanov reached out to touch the open collar of Shane’s shirt, one of his fingers lightly grazing his neck. “I see you are not always so buttoned-down. Buttoned-up? What is correct phrase?”

Elated to find himself in his area of expertise and under the sway of three drinks, Shane said, “I guess it depends what you mean. Buttoned-down refers more to, like, having a conservative attitude, adhering to conventional norms in how you dress or act. Buttoned-up is someone who is a bit repressed or uptight, or maybe just shy.”

Rozanov gave a bark of delighted laughter. “Mr. Copy Editor,” he said. “Mr. Dictionary.”

Then he leaned in, lips close enough to Shane’s ear to touch, and whispered, “Either way, I think I would like to see less buttons.”

    OR:

Shane Hollander is a copy editor at the Tribune, a small Prairie newspaper. When hotshot — and insanely hot — Russian Reuters reporter Ilya Rozanov is parachuted into his newsroom, it might upend his life even more than an update to the Canadian Press Stylebook.

    Summary

Alina was drawing an enormous purple dog.
"Are there a lot of purple dogs around here?" Ilya asked.
Alina didn't look up from the drawing.
    "No."
    "Do you like purple?"
    Once again, a one-word answer. "It's ok."
"I see. So the dog is ok."
    "It's not a dog. It's a wolf."
"A purple wolf? I've never seen one."
The little girl flushed with irritation. "The brown one is dead."
"Lucky me. Otherwise I never would have seen my new favorite animal. The purple wolf."
    Alina didn't answer.
"What do purple wolves eat? Yellow sheep?" Ilya asked.
The little girl looked up from the page and fixed Ilya with an intensity that made him uncomfortable. "Where is my brother?"

Ilya Rozanov gets a call from Russia: his brother has been arrested, and Ilya is the legal guardian of two children: his six-year-old niece Alina, and a baby nephew, Ivan, he didn't know existed. Ilya never planned on being anyone's father. He has no idea he's about to become the kind he never had.
