“Oh. That’s—that’s okay,” Bruce reassures Jason quickly before he can get upset. He picks the ear up off the floor and brushes dust bunnies from it. “That’s all right, son. We can put it back. I’ll fix this.” He kisses Jason’s forehead reassuringly. “You’re all right.”
Jason’s body is just…not used to being alive again. That’s it. It’s forgotten that parts of it aren’t supposed to keep rotting away, but it will stop eventually. He just needs time to heal. And Bruce has honestly gotten used to the odor by now, so it’s fine. They are doing fine.

“—To Lois Lane," Bruce interrupts, still staring out the window.
Bruce’s interruption has the entire table falling silent, faces genuinely falling, mouths snapping closed. Clark doesn’t really understand why anyone would need the clarification.
