Will grinned. ‘Bit of a story there. Me and Benny had a visit from this woman,’ Frankie raised his eyebrows. ‘Not like that. She works for this project for troubled teens, kinda like a last chance before Juvey, she was looking for local business to work with them, take them on, train them, but the project pays their wages. Seemed like a good way of giving back. God knows Benny and me nearly took enough wrong turns when we were younger.’
Frankie nodded and gave a rueful smile. They’d all taken a few wrong turns in life, and he didn’t even have the excuse that he’d been young when it had happened to him, just fucking stupid.
‘Let me give you her details, you never know she might have someone who can work in the shop.’ Scribbling the details down on a scrap of paper, Will handed it to Frankie, who shoved it in the pocket of his jeans, not really giving it a second thought. -

They came without warning. Four Tie fighters, and a Tie bomber, screaming out of the morning sky, strafing the ground with cannon fire. The warning klaxons sounded, as masonry flew and explosions rent the air, and what had been done before only as a drill, seamlessly slipped into place. Children and adults alike ran for the shelters as enemy fire rained around them. The scent of smoke was heavy in the air.
Axe had been supervising the building works, but as soon as the attack started he shouted into his comms. ‘Squadron to your ships!’ He ran at breakneck speed to the landing area, shouting as he did so, ‘prep the N1, I’m taking it out!’Series

Even as Axe sat in the pilot’s seat, watching the starfield slip by, he could still feel the edges of his nightmare scratching at his subconscious. Of course, he’d had nightmares before, everyone had them, for him, after the Purge was the worst, his dreams became so vivid that he would wake up in fear night after night, hearing the shriek of the Tie fighters and the screams of the dying, but, in the light of day, the dreams had vanished like the stars in the sunlight. No dream had ever made its presence known like this before. Unknowingly mirroring Din, he slipped into a trance, somewhere between waking and sleeping, he felt it begin again, an overwhelming sense of terror…. Gasping, he pulled himself back into wakefulness. Maker, he was losing his mind.
